Hypnotherapy

If you have ever driven your car to a destination and forgotten how you made the journey, started to drift off and daydream when you were supposed to be listening, or become so absorbed in a task that you have lost track of time then you have already experienced trance. Trance is the basis of hypnotherapy and is an everyday occurrence which we all experience and move in and out of many times a day. Put simply, trance is an altered state of consciousness which allows you to connect with your unconscious mind, where many habitual behaviours and thought patterns are formed.

A therapist will create a comfortable, safe environment for you to relax in and switch off from external pressures and your conscious thoughts. By focussing on the therapist’s voice you will be guided to examine your issues at an unconscious level.

Important! You will remain in control at all times. A therapist cannot make you do something you do not want to do, or make you give away information you are not comfortable with. You will remain conscious at all times and can return to a fully alert state whenever you choose.

Hypnotherapy is an interactive process, rather than something that is "done to you" and in order for it to be effective it requires you to work together in partnership with the therapist.

I use hypnotherapy as part of my integrative approach to counselling and with your consent I will incorporate it into your treatment plan where appropriate.

When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others
